We can go through life with regrets and hurts or we can move on. Moving on doesn’t make you cold and heartless, it just means you have decided to let go and do better. I have been hurt by others, I have hurt others, I spent my life looking for the right one and lost her due to that. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t someone else out there and there is. What it does mean is I can now focus on the one person I have been trying to find that is most important to me, myself.
People are going to hate you for what you’ve done, but that doesn’t mean you have to go on hating yourself. Look at what they are saying and learn from it, do better than that person that hurt them. Make that hurtful person and person of the past. Make yourself someone they would love to be around, not regret.
Here are the steps to a One Second Life
1. Forgive yourself and your past. Ask forgiveness of others if you can, but often just best to move forward and let them see you’re worth forgiving. Let the pain and hurt go, let the regrets go.
2. Let go of the past. It is no longer relevant, just here and now is.
3. Live one second at a time. 60 seconds from now hasn’t happened yet, so don’t worry about it. 60 seconds ago is done and over, so don’t worry about it. Just exist in this moment. Preparing for retirement, making plans or saving for college is ok, because that is something different. That’s preparing for the future, not dwelling on it.
One second at a time, that is where I live.
